Jackpocket, a Series D Consumer mobile SaaS (acquired by DraftKings for $750M), needed to hire their first SVP of People/Chief People Officer to help them scale from 350 to 700+ ppl over the next 12-24 months while fostering a scalable growth culture built on Learning and Development, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, and Total Rewards. We needed to bring in someone who had experience driving the People/HR strategy for multiple companies who had scaled similarly and exited while also understanding the challenges of having a mix of corporate (150+ppl) and part-time operations (200+ ppl). Jackpocket had been looking to make this hire for about 1 year, and while needed it wasn’t as pressing because their HR Director was performing admirably but it had become clear how important it would be to make this hire now, within the next 3 months.
Jackpocket had grown extremely well with their Director of People at the helm, setting up all their processes, and getting the business to function seamlessly. They have already built-out an amazing team who are all completely invested in the business, its growth and what’s needed as they become a larger company. The growth curve they’re on is tremendous and the next few years hold significant opportunity for them to completely own the market and reach escape velocity. So we set out to bring in an SVP, of People who had experience scaling companies of similar sizes and trajectories through IPO/exit who also embodied the culture that they want to build upon and preserve as they continue their evolution. We partnered with the CFO, CEO, HR Director, General Counsel, and Talent Acquisition Manager to run this search in a manner ensuring we’d make the best possible hire, within 90 days.
