CHALLENGE

MiQ, a leader in programmatic media has seen significant company wide growth over each of the past several years, since becoming PE backed. With their prior investments and an established reputation in Advanced TV, combined with the tailwinds provided by 2020/2021, the division was seeing massive YoY growth and looking to bring on an experienced Product Management Lead and Product Marketing Lead for their global team. As these are fairly nuanced hires with small talent pools, MiQ brought in Engro Partners to help make each of these hires, with candidates coming from strong experience within the Advanced TV space.

ACTION

We worked closely with the Global Talent Acquisition Manager, CMO, Director of Global Product Marketing as well as Head of Product so that we could do a market map of all relevant companies, candidates that were currently at these competitors as well as candidates who were previously at the competitors but had since made a career move. It was of the utmost important to find candidates who can not only lead strategy & dive in on execution of their respective work, but also someone with the relevant industry knowledge, that understood the product set, as well as the voice of the customer.

RESULT

Global Product Management Lead: We quickly found a very strong group of Product Management Leads & Directors with varying levels of experience within Advanced TV, as well as TV Measurement/Data products. We ultimately found the right mix of experience, someone with industry experience, direct product knowledge and the ability to thrive in a player/coach role. This person had spent years working on competitive products, but 2 years prior took a product leadership position a startup in a new industry. They were excited to get back to their roots and the timing worked out perfectly.

Global Product Marketing Lead: The Product Marketing Lead took a bit longer than our average search (~4 months), we conducted three iterations of this search as we worked through our list of must/nice to haves with the hiring team. Engro doesn’t back down from a challenge! We provided weekly consultation on the state of the candidate market, the wide range of candidates who were up to the task and ensuring that the hiring team had all needed information to navigate the process and ultimately make a hire in a very challenging market. Ultimately we were able to hire the perfect candidate coming from their largest competitor, who was ready to take the next step up/into this position. MiQ regularly returns to Engro Partners for challenging Marketing, Product & Enablement hires as part of a successful, long term partnership.
