CASE STUDY

TASK

NEW ROLES:

Marketing Communications Lead (Director)

Senior Marketing Manager

CHALLENGE

Stashable, owned by Iron Mountain (sold to Makespace who then merged with Clutter) was looking to build out a data driven Marketing team with leaders to help drive customer acquisition. The small pool of strong consumer acquisition marketing leaders was also stretched thinner by a peak in demand, making this a challenging search for Iron Mountain’s internal recruitment team.

ACTION

We have a strong network of Marketing talent and worked with the VP of Marketing to identify and headhunt the right people to help transform their Marketing team into a more data-driven and metrics led team. Within 3 weeks we identified and hired both the Marketing Communications Lead and the Senior Marketing Manager.

RESULT

Hindsight aside, it was immediately clear that both leaders were the perfect hires. So much so that we only kept 1 other interview. Despite making both hires with the first candidate presented and in a matter of a few weeks, both leaders have been promoted since joining, helping MakeSpace grow revenue by an average of 117% per year over and revolutionizing the storage category by building a customer-first integrated platform, powered by AI and machine learning to provide a convenient and seamless self-storage experience so customers can store and retrieve their items on-demand, receive optimal pricing, easily schedule appointments, track their pick-ups in real time, leave reviews and tip through the app, and view a secure photo inventory of stored items.

Makespace acquired Stashable from Iron Mountain who joined a $30M financing round for MakeSpace. In this combo exit and funding round, Makespace gained financial support and operational resources, enabling MakeSpace to immediately scale to 20 new markets.
