CASE STUDY

HIRE THE FIRST TALENT PARTNER TO BUILD THE FUNCTION + TEAM:

VP, Head of Talent (Talent Partner)

HIRE THE #2 ON THE PLATFORM TEAM:

Sr. Platform Associate

CHALLENGE

Left Lane Capital, an early-growth stage VC firm, closed a $1.4B Fund II about 2 years after a $630M Fund I. The Managing Partners wanted to bring in a Talent Partner who embodied the meteoric rise of Left Lane and the value they are adding to their portfolio companies, advising + building extraordinary teams. The Managing Partners were all on the same page, recognizing the significant value that this VP, Head of Talent will have on the growth and success of their portfolio – so finding the right balance of someone who has and can lead the charge at Left Lane was a challenge only suited for a few people.

ACTION

Working with the founding partners and the VP, Head of Platform we tackled this challenging search head-on and with complete transparency. We set the ultimate target to secure a remarkable talent leader with the experience of building many of the best (high growth) companies’ executive teams and also assembling their boardrooms. Someone who gets involved pre-investment to not only evaluate founding teams but to help founders setup an organizational growth plan to drive scale and efficiencies that enable them to lead the market and accelerate their path towards escape velocity.

RESULT

Within 3 weeks we had identified and engaged with the ideal prospects (and all finalists) who not only had the right experience but who also perfectly fit Left Lane’s mission and values. While we continued to network and build out a pipeline of potential prospects, the ideal candidate and hire was made from the people we identified and engaged within the first two weeks. We completed the search and the most amazing VP, Talent Partner and addition to Left Lane Capital’s team was hired within 80 days.

We also worked closely with Erica Amatori, VP Head of Platform @ Left Lane Capital on the Sr. Platform Associate role and helped her make an amazing hire for her team.
